"Enough pictures, Mom. Let's go to school!"...
Leading up to her first day, I made a personalized book for Reese all about going back-to-school. Thanks to my friend Carol at work for this awesome idea! Reese loves the book, so I have to remember it for next year. The book helped me communicate her daily schedule and was a great way to get her talking about what she was looking forward to and nervous about school this year. She said the things she was most excited about were, "I get to bring Lovey to rest time! And go to the library." She was nervous about "Talking to Mrs. Koosman and Mrs. Gaffer." Silly girl. My biggest concerns about school are going to bed/waking up early and having to put Reese's gym shoes on. Ridiculous, but true.
The first day of school was a huge success. When I picked her up, she said she didn't have a good day, but a "GREAT day!" Reese told me excitedly, "I talked to Mrs. Koosman a lot!" and she asked her sister, "Emmy, what did you do all day while I was off having fun at school?"
A successful first day of school ends with cupcakes at our house. A yummy tradition.
