With VERY little practice, Reese is now a bike rider! It all happened one night this spring when we went to Ellie's house, and Ellie was practicing riding her bike. Reese had never even considered taking off her training wheels before, but she saw Ellie and was extremely motivated. The cards were stacked against her -- she was wearing a dress, it was raining and dark outside. But, she practiced for 2 hours straight and GOT IT. And I was extremely happy that I only had to run behind her for about 10 minutes. Way to go, Reese! Here are a few fun videos of the first night -- video 1, video 2, video 3.
The first thing she said after waking up the next morning was, "I want to ride my bike." She is OBSESSED, which could be a very good (or very bad!) personality trait. Here are a couple of videos from day 2 -- video 4, video 5.
After just a few weeks, she is now riding the ramps! Here's a video of one of her first attempts (notice the leg kick out near the end) -- video 6. I love that the big kids kept out of her way, and even cheered her on. Seeing Reese overcome her fear and excel, brought tears to my eyes. Love her!
