Here is are a few of the conversations we had on the drive to drop Reese off at school this morning. Yes, this all happened in 25 minutes at 7:15am.
You know you've been sick too long when Emmy asks me (in the car), "Mom, where is your bathrobe?"
Mom: "Reese, what letter are you going to learn about today."
Reese: "T. I think we'll make a turtle.... or a tortoise."
Emmy: "Or a raccoon."
R: "No, Emmy. It has to start with a "t" sound."
E: "How about a rock."
R: "No. Let's think of another letter."
E: "How about F."
R: "No."
E: "How about P."
R: "No."
E: "F"
R: "No!"
E: "P"
R" No!"
E: "F, P, F, P"
R: "EMMY!!!!! You have to start with a "t" sound."
E: "Oh, I know! Rock."
R:"Emmy! You. Don't. Get. It!"
E: "A big, giant rock stuck to a jellyfish floor."
R: "Ahhhhhhhh!"
E: "Ha, ha, ha, ha!" (Obviously Emmy loves to push Reese's buttons.)
As we arrived at school, Reese jumped out of the car saying, "I can't hug you now, Mom. Norah!!!!" and off she ran into school to meet her friend Norah. And a little tear formed in my eye.
Emmy is always concerned about the cars around us. She said, "Mom, don't get hit by a car." Thanks for the reminder, honey.
That question about the car prompted her to think deeply saying, "Do we ever die?" Geeez, just some light conversation with a 2-year-old this morning.
