Midterm School Conference

We had Reese's midterm school conference tonight, and she is doing great in Kindergarten.  The only thing that was a bit surprising is that Reese is really talkative to Mrs. Schutte during the school day.  She's not overly talkative in a bad way, but Mrs. Schutte said, "Reese always has something to tell me."  I was surprised because Reese acts so shy around her teacher when I'm there.

We also talked about how Reese is not as emotional about writing her letters and numbers the last few weeks, which is good.  No more tears in school about her writing, and fewer tears at home.  Mrs. Schutte told us they practice the letter-of-the-day on white boards before going to their worksheets.   One day she overheard Reese tell herself, "That's ok, just keep on going," when she wrote a letter poorly on her white board.  Silly girl.  At least she's processing what we have been telling her.

Their class will finish up their letters next week, then start working on sight words as the next step toward reading.  I think Reese will LOVE reading, so this is very exciting!

Way to go, Reese!  Keep up the good work!
