Drive To and From School

Before school started, I dreaded the 20-25 minute car ride to school every morning.  I thought driving her 5 days a week would be such a hassle.  But, the car rides to and from school are some of my favorite times of the day.

In the mornings, we practice her memory work (Bible verses) and Kindergarten skills (like her phone number, address, etc).

In the afternoons, our routine is to immediately pull over after picking her up in the car line, and look at her school work.  She likes to pull out her papers one-by-one and tell me all about them, including anything else that was going on in the classroom while they were working on that worksheet (for example, "Sam stuck out his tongue at William while Mrs. Schutte was telling us the directions here.").  She's VERY aware of everything that is going on in the classroom and likes to report it all, especially when someone does something a little naughty.  She's not tattling on them, she's just letting me know.  Then, as we drive home in the afternoons, she usually sings songs they learned that day and occasionally falls asleep after her busy day.
