Sitting Up

Reese is working on sitting up, so we try out all the chairs & couches in the house. She seems to like the living room couch best because she found a pillow that is just her size.

Book Club

Reese has really taken an interest in books -- looking at the pages while Mommy reads to her and tasting the soft books. She is a future book club member!

ExerSaucer

Our big girl tried out her ExerSaucer today. She is a little small for it, so we just propped her up with a blanket and kept a close eye to make sure she didn't topple over. Reese really seemed to enjoy the toy - and we didn't even spin her around to see the other side yet!

Nap Needed

Just when I thought Reese was turning into a good night sleeper, she has reverted back to waking up twice each night. Daddy takes the 5am shift when he doesn't have to work... then takes a much needed nap in the afternoon.

Who is that beautiful baby?

Reese enjoys looking in the mirror and wondering, "Who is that beautiful baby... and why does she keep looking at me?"

Lined Up

Two 12 pound girls lined up, ready to play.

Baby Einstein

Reese enjoyed watching her new Baby Einstein video, "Baby Beethoven." She was entertained for 20 minutes straight and is now a genius (according to her parents)!

Abs

Reese has rock hard abs from all the kicking she does! Mommy is jealous and is thinking about copying her workout routine.

Concentration

Reese is reaching out to more things each day. But it's all still new to her, so she really has to concentrate when she plays with her toys. It's so fun to watch her learn!

Company

Daddy crawled under the activity mat today, and Reese loved having the company! She showed him the butterflies, bird, and all the fun things to look at and bat at.

Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day everyone. Reese spent the day with the Haag's. She went to her first parade and only got a little scared when the band played. She then spent the afternoon with her cousins Peyton and Brayden. The kids are going to have such a great time growing up together.

Daddy Time

Daddy took Reese on a walk by himself for the first time today. While I was glad they could spend some time alone together, I got a little nervous when I was called outside to help with the stroller. I found poor little Reese was sitting crooked and Daddy complaining that "you need an engineering degree to use this stroller". Luckily Reese was patient with her Daddy and didn't even cry. We soon got Reese straightened out and Todd calmed down, then they went on their way.

Happy Retirement

Reese and I traveled to Austin to attend Grandma Cipra's retirement party. Grandma Cipra is retiring after 35 years of teaching Kindergarten. Quite an accomplishment! She was also honored by being selected "Teacher of the Year" in the Austin Public School District - well deserved!

Grandma is retiring just in time to take care of Reese on Mondays and Tuesdays when I return to work. This is the perfect arrangement for everyone. Todd and I have the most qualified daycare imaginable, and Grandma has a new job to keep her busy - "Granny Nanny".

Side Sleeper

I think Reese is going to roll over soon; she has been trying the past few days. Then, I found her sleeping on her side this afternoon. Soon after I took this picture, Reese spit out her pacifier through the crib railing, it hit the wall making a loud sound and waking her up, and bounced on the floor to the very middle under her crib. It was quite a sequence of events that ended with a baby crying and m0mmy crawling under the crib to find the "mute button" (aka the pacifier).

LOL

Reese laughed out loud today! It was more than the short "ha ha"she has been doing for awhile. She giggled and squeeled with delight as I shook her toy cow over and over. It was soooo cute and one of those moments that makes all the sleepless nights worth it. :)

Multi-tasker

Moms are amazing multi-taskers. I have learned how to water the flowers, clean the house, cook dinner, fold the laundry, put on make-up, dry my hair, etc... all with Reese in my arms. I'm actually updating the blog right now (typing with one hand) while holding Reese as she naps (she woke up every time I tried putting her down), eating lunch (finally at 5pm) and pumping (sorry, too much information)!

Funeral

Unfortunately, Reese attended a funeral today. Todd's uncle Lawrence passed away following complications with diabetes. Lawrence was a wonderful man who loved his family deeply. He will be missed.

Playset

Daddy decided to prove Mommy wrong and show that Reese WILL use her new playset this summer. Mommy kept telling him Reese would not use it for two years. So, he put her in her infant swing and ran out of the way to take a few very quick pictures.

Laura and Lexi

We had a great weekend with our friends Laura and Lexi. They flew in from St. Louis for a fun "little" girls' weekend. Lexi showed Reese what it's like to be 10 months old - how to sit up, eat solids, put herself to sleep, and much more. It was so fun to have them here! We wish they would move to Minnesota so we could hang out all the time!

Backside

Couldn't resist a cute picture of Reese's backside in her little jeans! This picture also shows Reese's mullet; hope her hair starts growing on top soon! It's hair only a mother can love. :)

Hands Meet Mouth

Reese has really found her hands... now they are always in her mouth!

Crinkle

Video of Reese discovering her frog makes crinkle noises. It's fun to watch her move with purpose!

Jibber Jabber

Reese likes to talk - especially when she first wakes up in the morning and from her naps. She keeps herself entertained for a long time!

Faces

Quick picture of Reese looking at the face of her tiger. She loves to look at faces of people, dolls, and stuffed animals and she usually gives them a huge grin!

Happy Mother's Day

We had a fun Mother's Day weekend. We spent Saturday with the Cipra's at our house for a BBQ and Sunday with the Haag's at the lake. Mommy received a very nice card, picture frame, and flowers for her outside pots.

On Monday, Reese and Mommy went to the nursery to buy more flowers to finish up her pots. Then Reese slept for a few hours (in her crib!) so Mommy could plant the flowers. She is so cooperative!

Long and Lean

Reese looks so long and lean doing tummy time these days. Big difference from when she was a newborn!

New Hat

Reese got a new sun hat, and she actually doesn't mind wearing it! I think she's okay with the hat because she's distracted by the cow that hangs from her car seat. Here are a couple pictures taken just after we returned from a walk yesterday.

3 Months Old

Reese is now 3 months old (technically she was 3 months old yesterday). She now weighs 11 lbs and is over 22 inches long. She's up to lots of new things like smiling (although I can never catch her for a picture), looking at her toys (she especially likes to look at doll and animal faces), and sucking on her pacifier (I never thought I would let my kids take a pacifier, but she loves it).

Kentucky Derby

Reese looked super cute for her first Kentucky Derby! Mommy hosted a neighborhood party and Reese fit right in with her hot pink dress and flower in her hair.

Big Stuff

This picture shows that Reese is really growing up... and she thinks she's big stuff!
