Some random pictures from the past few weeks...

Our Emmy Bear after her bath.

Taking advantage of the nice weather while it lasts.

The girls had fun at a high school football game, especially climbing all over Todd.

Hot in the hot tub.

Field Trip

Reese and I had fun on her preschool field trip to the apple orchard. It was fun to see how much Reese has grown and matured vs. our field trip last year.  She spent the whole time with her friends and didn't seem to even care that I was there!

Recent Funnies

A few recent funnies...

Emmy is very possessive of me.  Lately, whenever I give Reese attention or hugs, Emmy yells, "MY mommy" and runs to my arms.  When I tell her I am Reese's mommy too, she says, "No, MY mommy."

Reese says her prayers every night.  Her latest thing is she tells us not to listen, whispers for a couple minutes, then immediately tells us, "Want to hear what I prayed?  I said, Thank you God for all the trees and animals.  Thank you for Mommy, Daddy, and Emmy.  I hope you never have to die again.  Thank you for taking my sins."

We really need to cut back on Reese's iPad screen time.  She has been into watching toy commercials on You Tube lately.  We justify this by the fact she is learning and asking us, "What does sold separately and batteries not included mean?"  To give you an example, here is one of her favorite toy commercials http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWhfdLnzTC8.

When the girls are crabby and constantly saying "no", I now call them "Negative Nelly(ies)."  They really don't like this term and immediately yell, "I'm not Negative Nelly!"  One time I explained to Reese, "You just have to stop saying no, then I won't call you Negative Nelly anymore."  To that, she immediately replied, "But Mom, I have to say no for EXPRESSION!"

Reese was learning about apples at school, and they got to sample different kinds.  Reese told me, "My favorite was one called Granny Smith, eventhough is is sour.  Ha!  There is really an apple called Granny Smith!  I told Mrs. Koosman just like the [My Little] Pony Granny Smith!"  I'm pretty sure Reese thinks the apple was named after the pony, and not the other way around.

Hair Brush

Reese HATES to brush her hair, but I guess she'll brush it with a pool table brush because it was HER idea.  She always wants to be in control... and always tests her mother's patience.

Pumpkin Party

We bought our pumpkins yesterday, and it inspired Reese to host a pumpkin party today.  Thanks to the neighbors who were able to come to the impromptu party.  You made Reese's pumpkin wishes come true!

Reese wanted neighbor Tracy to make a pumpkin cake, but I did my best.

The girls played LOTS of pumpkin games: (1) Hide the pumpkin (2) Draw a pumpkin (3) Pumpkin relay race (4) Roll the pumpkin (5) Bean bag pumpkin toss (6) Pumpkin hand off (7) Ring a pumpkin (8) Pumpkin hop.

Then the motley crew showed up, and the party really started.

Picking Pumpkins

We had fun picking out our pumpkins today.  Who knew this would be such great entertainment?  I have to remember this place in Loretto.

Emmy kept trying to eat the pumpkins, so we had to buy her an apple too.

Emmy's Latest

Here are some of Emmy's latest tricks...

Memorizes the book Brown Bear after reading it in the car with Grandma Cipra.  (And yes, at 20 months, she still fits in her infant car seat.  Althought I think she has FINALLY reached the weigh limit.)

Counts to 20 (but usually skips 6 and 8),  I think she's able to count so well because we went through a stage where we played A LOT of hide-and-seek at our house.

Knows all her colors.  Her favorite color is yellow!

Knows all her shapes.

Says countless words, phrases, and sentences.  I think her current favorite phrases are "Reesie took it!" and "I don't like that!"  Sibling rivalry is alive and well at our house.

Emmy also often says "Oh! Oh my!" which is completley adorable.

Pet Trainer

Reese has decided she not only wants to be a pet sitter, but also a pet trainer.  First, she tried to train Libby for a half hour in our driveway.  She kept yelling things like, "Libby, sit down.", "Libby, roll over." "Libby, speak."  Of course Libby didn't cooperate, got annoyed with Reese, and walked away.

So, the girls set off to find some other pets to train.

Thanks to our neighbors for letting the girls "train" Maggie and Rocket.  They were very excited when the dogs would sit and chase sticks on command.

My Emmy

Oh how I love my Emmy!  Now that Reese is in school, we are enjoying more time with just the two of us.

Bedtime

Reese has been doing really well going to bed at night in order to get up for preschool.  This has been a big change for all of us -- going to bed at 8:30 instead of 11:00, and getting up at 7:00 instead of whenever she wanted.

Except tonight... I wonder what tomorrow morning will bring.

Randoms

Here are some recent random pictures...

Reese continued to perfect her parade skills in the River Days parade for MOPS.

Cute "shampoo updo."

A weekly tradition, doughnuts from Grandpa Cipra.  It's become so frequent that the minute Grandpa walks in the door on Sunday nights, Emmy asks him, "Grandpa, doughnuts?"

Despite the 100+ degree heat index, the kids had fun at the neighborhood block party.

Playing at the park with Grandma Cipra.  I'm very impressed that Grandma can ride that frog.

Don't mind me... just playing on the iPad.

There was some serious coloring going on at Perkins.

Libby spends most of her time outside, but she loves to cuddle and snuggle when she finally comes inside.

Field Dedication

We had fun at Reese's school's baseball field dedication.  There was a petting zoo, silly string wars, and a dunk tank (not pictured).  Reese and Daddy were close, but I was the only one who hit the bullseye in the dunk tank, taking down Pastor Johnson.  Ha!

The rain held off until the event was over, then we came home and played in the rain.
