Two Cats

Todd and I had the bright idea of taking a picture of our two "cats" on Halloween. Unfortunately it didn't occur to us that Reese really did look like a cat with her ears on crawling on all fours, and Belle absolutely HATES other cats. Luckily, although Belle felt threatened, she just arched her back and did not hiss or swat at Reese. Not one of our finest parenting moments. Next time we'll just skip the picture.

Happy Halloween

Reese enjoyed her first Halloween dressed up as a leopard -- and even kept her ears on all night! She received a glow stick from the Rockford Fire Department, went to a few houses trick-or-treating, and gave everyone who came to our door a big smile. She seemed to love this holiday!

Spooky Party

Grandma and Grandpa Haag took care of Reese while Todd and I went to a Halloween party with the neighbors. Reese got very excited and laughed as Todd and I came downstairs in our custumes - a leopard and safari guy. She already thinks her parents are goofy. Reese is going to be a leopard for Halloween too. Can't wait to try on her costume tomorrow!

Kitchen

Reese loves the kitchen. She likes to help unload the dishwasher, keep a close eye on the microwave and oven when they are on, and cook. Yes, she really did enjoy cooking - we just couldn't catch a smile on camera.

Plans

Reese helped me finish up some work tonight. It's a busy time of the year because we are working on promotion marketing plans for my brands - Cascadian Farm, Muir Glen, and Larabar. Reese enjoyed the work at first, but got frustrated as the emails kept coming in. I know how you feel, Reese!

Take it Easy

Since Reese has a cold, we tried to take it easy today. We watched a Baby Einstein video, read lots of books, listened to music, and just cuddled. But, she seems to be perking up tonight!

Little Cold

Poor Reese has a cold. We're very lucky that this is just her second cold ever, but we don't quite know how to handle it. We have been holding her, wiping her nose, and loving her up all day. Get well soon, Reesie Piecie!

New Favorite

Reese tried a new, puffy veggie snack today and loved it! I had to slow her down because she kept stuffing them into her mouth. She even grabbed the container to dump out more onto her tray.

Playing with Luca

Our friends Kristi and Luca came over this afternoon for a play date. Luca and Reese really seemed to like each other as they grabbed at and smiled at the other baby in the room. It was really sweet.

Heart Attack

Reese just about gave me a heart attack last night. She was playing in her room after a bath, so I decided to put her in her crib with a stuffed animal while I went downstairs to grab something. While downstairs I heard a big thud and then silence. My heart stopped for a second, then I sprinted upstairs to see what happened. I found Reese standing up in her crib with a huge smile on her face - one hand straight up holding onto her mobile, the other hand on the crib rail. As it turns out, the thud was just the monitor that she had knocked down while walking around the crib. I might be exaggerating, but I swear she could have flipped herself out of the crib. Since I didn't have time to lower her matteress to the lowest level last night, I ended up putting pillows all around her crib just in case she tried to flip out during the night. Parenting is so stressful!

Amazingly, Reese had a fantastic sleeping night. She set a personal record and slept for 11 hours straight without waking up! It was like a dream come true. Ironically I stayed up reading a new book called "The Sleepeasy Solution" because I've finally come to the end of my rope and need to start teaching Reese how to sleep through the night without our assistance. I'm pretty sure last night was just a fluke and I'll start my sleep teaching soon - not at all looking forward to it!

This morning Reese has been pulling herself up to standing by the window, on my leg, and in her crib while napping. Good job, Reese. Just stop giving Mommy heart attacks.

Reese would like to wish Great Grandma Cipra a very happy 90th birthday!

Atlanta

I had to go to Atlanta for work this weekend, but tried to make it a quick trip. I flew out at 7am Saturday and was back home by noon on Sunday. Daddy and Reese had a good time while I was gone. They did lots of crawling and learned the new "funny dance". Ask Todd to demonstrate the next time you see him.

Cold Front

How can it go from 85 degrees last week to a forecast for snow tomorrow? Reese had to get all bundled up for her walk today. I think we spent more time getting ready to go outside than actually on our walk. I'm not ready for the cold weather yet!

Stair Master

Reese has mastered going UP the stairs. This is now a favorite thing to do -- crawl up the stair and into the office to find Daddy working on fantasy sports. As you can see, she has not yet mastered going DOWN the stair. I snapped this picture because she fell but didn't cry, then spent over a minute trying to figure out how to get her legs down. It was pretty funny.

New Toys

Now that Reese crawls, she is finding all sorts of new toys. Like the door stop which provides hours of fun.

Twins Win!

It's been an exciting two days for Minnesota sports! First the Vikings beat the Packers in Brett Favre's big Monday Night Football game. Then the Twins beat the Tigers tonight to win the Central Division. The Twins game went into extra innings, so we changed into jammies but stayed up to watch the big win. Bring on the Yankees tomorrow night!

Up Stairs

Now that Reese has mastered crawling, she's already trying to climb up stairs. She can't quite get up yet, but she sure is trying!

Happy Birthday Kaija

Daddy set the DVR because the Gophers were playing the Badgers, then we headed to our neighbor Kaija's 2nd birthday party today. Kaija looked adorable in her birthday hat and tutu. Little girls are so much fun!

Cheerios

I hate to admit this since Todd and I both work for General Mills, but Reese was not a fan when she tried Cheerios for the first time. Crazy girl - they are delicious and may reduce your cholesterol!

Too Fast

Reese is growing up too fast! She looks like a toddler in the jeans and tennis shoes she wore to ECFE class this morning. I don't like it one bit!

Funny Outfit

I put this outfit on Reese today for the first time. She took one look at her shirt and laughed! I wonder why she thought the fabric was so funny? Maybe Reese will become a fashion designer one day -- and likely not design anything in lime green.

It's Official

We have a crawler on our hands! Reese has been crawling the last few days, and she's already pretty fast when she is after something!
